Pen & Stone at Die Letterhuis / Aswater in the Karoo

I attended the recent Pen & Stone workshop by Heleen de Haas, at Aswater / Die Letterhuis, situated between Klaarstroom and Prince Albert in the Karoo. And what an experience it was! Not only did I learn, play and rediscover my love for typography by playing with letters and calligraphy (and getting an introduction to stone-carving!); but I also had the opportunity to walk the Word Labyrinth, the Calligraphic Stone Path – a collaboration between Heleen de Haas and Ley Mboramwe – and the land art created as part of Stories of Rain – the South African leg of the Global Nomadic Project in 2016.
